«On 22 June 2009, Fortis Insurance Belgium, created in 2006 by the merger of Fortis AG (formerly AG) and FB Assurances, has changed its name to AG Insurance.

AG Insurance distributes its products through several channels, each having its own brand. As such, the brand AG Insurance is used in the broker’s channel, at the Fortis agencies and for the clients of the AG Employee Benefits. The insurance contracts distributed through the bank channel however carry the name BNP Paribas Fortis.»

The challenge

AG Insurance has over more than 41,7 billion euros of « financial assets under management » (figures at end 2008).

The importance of this amount has forced AG Insurance to diversify its investment strategy by expanding its range of financial assets. Indeed, in order to meet the requirements of the market, the financial instruments in which the assets are invested have become more complex and varied.

It is for the same reason that AG Insurance decided to integrate all the internal processes linked to these financial assets within one single IT system.

So AG Insurance started looking for a new asset management tool, able to manage new financial instruments such as swaps and structured products as well as the back- and front office.

The solution : Soliam

In order to find the solution meeting all its needs, AG Insurance had put forward the following criteria :

So when both companies merged in 2006, it was only natural that Soliam became the software for the management of the financial assets of AG Insurance.
