ArjoWiggins EMEA has chosen to outsource the IT development of its « carbonless » division to BSB

The vocation of the ArjoWiggins group is to produce luxury paper « that dignifies the message that has been trusted to it ».

ArjoWiggins is the world’s leading manufacturer of technical and creation papers. The group employs more than 7000 people spread over 30 sites worldwide. It realizes a yearly turnover of 2 billion euros.

The challenge

Within the context of a global long term reorganization plan, the European management decided in 2006 to transfer the production of the plant in Nivelles to the plant in Verginal.
At the plant of Nivelles, the IT development team was responsible for the management of the applications used in the 5 « carbonless » plants of the ArjoWiggins group : Nivelles and Virginal in Belgium, Erith and Dartford in the United Kingdom and Bor in the Czech Republic.

With regard to the IT department, the management of ArjoWiggins decided to not keep it in house but to outsource it to a partner.

The solution

ArjoWiggins has chosen to outsource its IT development activity to BSB, mainly for BSB’s capability to offer a flexible and tailor-made solution.

The solution consisted in integrating into BSB a maximum number of members of the Nivelles’ IT development team who were willing to make the transfer to BSB.

Five people of ArjoWiggins joined BSB during the course of September 2007. In the meantime, this team has been completed with BSB team members. 

The result

The outsourcing contract is a three-year (renewable) contract running since September 2007.

The missions included in the outsourcing contract regard mainly the development, the maintenance and the support (24 hours a day) of the applications (in Uniface), used for the production and stock management of the five European « carbonless » plants of the group.

Since September 2007, the ArjoWiggins’ project team that has been set up within BSB continues in a successful way the work of the former IT development team of ArjoWiggins !
