The SOA ‘boom’
When we ask our clients to list some of the advantages of SOA, they all mention the three following elements : easy to integrate, shorter time to market and an increased « agility » of the business processes.
Within the current context of fusions and acquisitions within the financial world, these advantages can only be considered as major assets which explain the increasing success of service oriented architecture within the sector.
BSB and the Luxembourgian insurance companies
Thanks to its IT services and software packages allowing the smooth running of insurance companies, BSB has become one of the privileged IT partners of insurance companies in Luxembourg.
In terms of software packages, BSB proposes two solutions specially developed for the financial world : Soliam for the management of financial assets and Solife for the management of insurance policies.
With regard to the IT services, BSB has its own dedicated team of « consultants » specialized in insurance and actuary. We also develop tailor made IT applications in order to meet the specific needs of insurance companies.
The use of SOA within insurance companies through the BSB offer
Soliam and Solife, the software packages developed for insurance companies, have both been built on service oriented architecture.
After having carried out several projects for different clients, BSB will soon launch a « multi channel portal » as a fully independent product. This portal allows the different distribution channels of an insurance company (such as brokers and clients) to have a remote access to the company’s website via a Web interface in RIA technology, in order to consult their contracts or execute transactions. As this portal requires webservices, it must be possible to integrate it into the SOA IT environment of every insurance company.
BSB also carries out tailor made projects implying the implementation of business platforms based on webservices. These platforms are mainly used to extend the distribution networks of insurance companies to mostly foreign (institutional) partners who wish to sell Luxembourgian insurance products.
